Reston, Virginia, July 9, 2010 – Daon, the award-winning global provider of identity assurance software and services, announced today that Martin Cummings, Daon’s Vice President for Strategic Market Development has been named as the Industry Chair for the Voyagers Program at the American Council for Technology- Industry Advisory Council.

The American Council for Technology (ACT) - Industry Advisory Council (IAC) is a non-profit, public-private partnership dedicated to improving government through the application of information technology.  ACT-IAC provides an objective, ethical and trusted forum where government and industry exchange information and collaborate on technology issues in the public sector.   

Cummings, who has been with Daon for six years, has more than 26 years experience in developing and implementing government IT solutions at companies such as Integic, AT&T, GRC International, and TRW.  At Daon, Martin “Marty” manages key partner relationships and leads the company’s business development efforts.

Marty has served on the Federal Board of Directors for the Information Technology Association of America, the Board of Trustees for the Fairfax County Education Foundation and the Board of Directors for the Nuclear Information and Records Management Association, including one term as Vice President. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science, Marty served as an officer in the U. S. Marine Corps for more than six years and was recalled to active duty in support of Operation Desert Storm. Over the course of his career in the federal IT market, he has held numerous management and executive leadership positions.

The ACT-IAC Voyagers Program is a leadership development program for "rising stars" in both government and industry who have a high potential for future advancement. 2011 heralds the sixth class for this exceptional program that continues to build on its past success as well as that of the ACT-IAC IT Partners Program. The objective of the program is to prepare mid-level managers for their future roles in industry and government. Each prospective program participant must be nominated by his or her respective company or agency sponsor, complete this application, and be selected for the program by a panel of senior executives from government and industry.
