Daon has provided the Irish Government with a biometric identity assurance infrastructure that, in the first phases, is the foundation for 21st century national immigration control and eVisa systems.  The DaonEngine platform supports integration into the National AFIS and the European Commission’s Eurodac platforms.  The open, standards based, flexibility of the Daon Architecture has been used to construct a highly de-coupled enterprise architecture - enabling seamless integration of additional biometric technology and other systems on a phased basis.  Again the principle of one identity system supporting multiple business missions is how the Daon Architecture adds maximum value in terms of total cost of system ownership over time.

The Daon products in the National AFIS and eVisa programs support enrolment, reconciliation of immigration and asylum seeker data with the National Register, as well as the EC’s Eurodac database of immigration and asylum seekers into the EU.   This provides biometric de-duplication services on a National and European level using NIST standards based services.  Ultimately the same Daon infrastructure will be extended to integrate with multiple other Government systems and business applications, to support many different civil and criminal agencies, as illustrated in the high level architecture below.  This potentially could include new external European systems such as EU-VIS and SIS II.
