The Registered Traveler (RT) program was designed to improve the security screening process by helping DHS/TSA align screeners and resources with potential risks, ease the congestion at checkpoints, and reduce the wait time for all passengers.  Using fingerprint and iris biometrics along with select personal information, frequent travelers are enrolled in the system and passed through a security assessment for inclusion in the program. Daon played several significant roles in the development of the US RT program:

  • Daon lead the government/industry committee in drafting the US RT Interoperability Specification
  • Daon develop and implemented the Central Identity Management System (CIMS) which provides key RT functions including:
    • Secure and private management of identity data including biometric templates
    • De-duplication checking using one-to-many biometric matching
    • Biometric watch list checking against known false identities
    • Secure activation of the Registered Traveler Smart Card using one-to-one biometric matching

Daon provides the platform and process/procedures for validating potential service providers’ compliance with the RT specification.
