US Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology

Daon has played a significant consultative role on the Smart Border Alliance (SBA) team working to modernize the infrastructure and operations of the world’s largest biometric program, US-VISIT.  One of the government’s key objectives on this program is avoiding commercial and technical lock-in and providing the opportunity for best-of-breed technology to be utilized on a continuous basis. Daon was originally selected from an evaluation process of 31 companies with biometrics capabilities.

In addition to providing software to the program, Daon has had a consulting team in place for over four years assisting in:

  • design of the next generation border management using biometric identity assurance architectures
  • assessing the implications of going from single finger readers to multi-finger readers (slaps)
  • assessing the implications of using tokens at high volume border control points
  • providing advice and guidance on the use of biometric standards and how to cope with changing standards
  • assessing the implications of abstraction of data capture from multiple matching systems using multiple biometric modalities
